Student feedback
In October 08, 600 students squeezed into the Melbourne campus' Meridian Annual Career Fair to meet and discuss career plans with 20 employers from hotels, restaurants, catering and staff recruitment companies.
At the moment, 250 graduated and current students have received a job offer or a second interview, and the list is growing.
'This is amazing, this is fantastic. The School made a good effort in the way this day is organised. You understand what is going on in the market. I’ve done 20 interviews today. At the beginning I was nervous but now I’m not '

'The Career Fair is good, especially the catering companies. My advice is organise your certificates and resume, look professional, you must present yourself well, market yourself. Always get information about the company, search on the net. Find out how many rooms, how many outlets, what sort of food etc. because employers will ask “What do you know about my company?”

'The Careers Fair is good. At first I felt difficult but I just handed my resume, smiled and started. They were all surprised I changed from accounting to this industry. I was studying accounting for three years but I thought “That is not my passion”.
It’s important is to be confident and not show your nervousness. Show your personality and passion is the most important thing.

'They asked about my hospitality background, what I have studied, where I worked and about myself. I’ve attended a lot of interviews today so now I’m used to it'

'The Careers Fair is good. It was a bit scary at the beginning – as the day went on – confidence grows. The employers are high income people but they did not treat us like beginners. Don’t get nervous. Have confidence. The students should know what to do and what they want to be. You need to say “I want to be a chef.” I think the students need to name the potential area to work- to be a specialist.”
