Industry Placement Office
The Industry Placement Office (IPO) is a service you can use to get help in finding work experience in the hospitality industry during your studies.
Your search for employment is a shared responsibility and we will help you in any way we can. Sometimes we are contacted by industry clients to help fill positions, but you cannot only rely on this to find work experience. We also encourage and support you to find your own employment.

Tips for successful job placement
- Take ownership and responsibility which will help you keep your job.
- We advise you show a keen attitude towards your study, and demonstrate reliability, enthusiasm and good communication skills. This helps you stand out from everybody else so you will have better chances getting a job.
- You must have finished your 1st term of studies because you need to have completed the required certificates to work in the industry (which are completed in Term 1). After your 1st term you will also have learned some basic industry skills making the transition into the workforce smoother for you and your employer.
- Allow yourself some time to get used to a new school, city and country so you feel more comfortable when you start working. Take the time to practice speaking and receiving instructions in English, allowing for better communication in the workforce.
